Celebrate the opening of Chihuly's Venetians: The George R. Stroemple Collection at Party on the Piazza!
To commemorate the wild and wondrous Venetian style of glassmaking that has heavily influenced Chihuly’s work, Party on the Piazza will immerse guests in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Italy with a variety of all-day, family friendly activities.
The festival’s outdoor activities on the Museum’s main plaza are free to the public. These events include:
•Hands-on crafts featuring Venetian masks, origami gondolas, and gondolier hats, 10:30 am to 6 pm
•Magic show, face painting, balloon art, and glitter tattoos by Colorful Events, 11 am to 3 pm
•Olive oil and balsamic vinegar tastings by Olympia Olive Oil, 11 am to 8 pm
•Wine tasting by Gingko Forest Winery, 12 to 7 pm
•Photo booth station featuring Vespa scooters and a gondola, 11:30 am to 8:30 pm
•Ballet performances by the YMCA, 12:30 to 1 pm
•Ballet lessons by the YMCA, 1:15 to 1:45 pm
•Acrobats, contortionists, and stilt-walkers from the School of Acrobatics & New Circus Acts, 2 to 4 pm
•Gelato station featuring edible “glass” from Metropolitan Market, 2 to 5 pm
•Casa Mia’s “Pizza Olympics” featuring pizza dough tossing, pasta eating, and “Master Chef”-inspired pizza making contests, 3 to 7 pm
•Tango dancing by Tango in Tacoma, 4 to 7 pm
•Concert performance by Rags & Ribbons, 7:15 to 8:15 pm
Additional indoor activities included with museum admission.
