Unpacking the Mysteries of Autism

Calendar/Event Details

49580

Since it was first diagnosed 75 years ago, an increasing number of children and young adults have been placed on the autism spectrum, but the disorder remains somewhat mysterious. In a Different Key chronicles the decades-long struggle of identifying, coming to terms with, treating, and finally, accepting autism for what it is. ABC News authors John Donvan and Caren Zucker will give insight into this learning difference, explain how Temple Grandin and other big players have helped to shape the dialogue, and offer hope for a more accepting, inclusive future. They’ll be joined in a brief Q&A by Dr. Annette Estes, Director of the UW Autism Center.
