If you’ve never had the opportunity to see top-notch wheelchair basketball players crash the boards or go coast to coast, you’re invited see what that’s like during the President’s Cup.
The game is a fast-paced, sweat-inducing and fiercely competitive sport that most able-bodied people don’t appreciate, said player Zack Keefe. “How can you play basketball sitting down?” friends have asked him. They’re awestruck when they see it: “Holy cow, it’s pretty sweet to watch.”
An estimated 100 athletes, representing 10 teams from throughout the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, are expected to participate in what is Metro Parks’ second annual President’s Cup. The tournament will be the fifth such regional wheelchair basketball event held in Tacoma.
