It’s time to PLAY! Academy of Play is a chance for adults to explore the history, science, and social impact of toys, games, and play. No need to leave the kids at home: the simultaneous Academy of Play Kids’ Club is a chance for youth to build their own toys and connect with Puget Sound's most imaginative creators.

For Adults
The sign of a good toy is its ability to inspire creativity and imagination. Uncover how three local companies foster creativity through their toys, business, and innovations while at the same time honoring the creative process for all involved. Panelists include Darcy Anderson, Cofounder of Tinkertopia, Adrienne and David Minnery, founders of Manzanita Kids, and Dan Shapiro, Cofounder and CEO of Glowforge.

Kids’ Club
Science + craft = toys! Learn how to use conductive thread to create a stuffed toy that actually lights up. In this brilliant workshop lead by Pop-Up Science, children will learn about electrical circuits, basic sewing skills, and come away with their very own mini stuffy to take home.

Academy of Play Kids' Club is open to ages 7 and up; adult attendance at the Academy of Play is not required for kids to participate in the Kids' Club.
