Nick Adams, a life-long student of the American Civil War and active Civil War Re-enactor, read selections from his newly released My Dear Wife and Children: Civil War Letters from a 2nd Minnesota Volunteer.
The one hundred letters record in vivid detail the thoughts, emotions, and experiences of a common soldier, Corp. David Brainard Griffin, during his two years of service preceding his death at the Battle of Chickamauga. Descriptions of battle scenes, daily life in camp, and encounters with slaves and slavers, fill the letters, along with heartfelt expressions of his deep sense of separation from home and family.
