Create a mixed media Nicho using a matchbox and learn the history of Mexican nichos, shrines and ex votos. Participants are encouraged to bring found objects or images to add to their shrine. Traditional nichos are part of household altars or extensions of them, and depict patron saints, ancestors, or ex votos. They can act as shrines, protection, or devotional objects, and may be part of active religious practice.
