Dive into the freshwater ecosystems at the Brightwater Education Center in Woodinville. We will explore adaptions of underwater organisms.
Curious who lives beneath the surface of a pond? Wondering how different organisms are adapted to underwater life? Dive into the freshwater ecosystems at the Brightwater Education Center with IslandWood and King County! We’ll use art, science, and exploration to understand the watery worlds we protect here at Brightwater, and to see the types of plants and animals we share these places with. Space is limited. Please pre-register to reserve your spot to this free event.
Adult participation is expected. We want families to learn and work together! Although this event is recommended for families with youth ages 6-12, we are open to all ages. Please make a decision about your child’s ability to participate based on the following information: This event involves walking off trail, walking in muddy ground, drawing, writing, using scissors and glue, looking at identification guides, using microscopes, and exploring safely near water. Be sure to dress for the weather as this event will be entirely outside. Shoes that can get wet and muddy are encouraged!
