Family Saturday: Youth Nature Art

Calendar/Event Details

For our June Family Saturday, Seattle-based artist, Hillary Moore, will be demonstrating and leading a family-friendly, shibori-inspired art workshop in the garden. Come explore patterns and textures in nature using resist techniques!

Hillary Moore (www.hillarymoore.com) is an artist and illustrator whose work is inspired by the wonder of childhood. Working in watercolor and ink, she loves bringing whimsical characters and dreamy landscapes to life. Her imagery is often accompanied by stories she writes about children (and sometimes animals) who are exploring their worlds, often with a magical twist.

Hillary is a graduate of the Scripps College studio art program with experience in sculpture, environmental art and painting, but her passion for working with youth as a teaching artist also led her to earn a graduate degree in education and to work in the fields of arts education and creative youth development. As a children’s illustrator, Hillary gets to combine her passions and use visual art as a way to celebrate and explore the playful, unexpected mindsets of young people.

FREE admission to all youth 12 and younger from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Family Saturday.
