DESCRIPTION:March 6th is the first Free First Thursday of the 2026 season. Join us in the Tateuchi Community Room 3:00pm-4:45pm for the opening reception of Port Angeles based Gyotaku artist\, Cody Hagen’s inaugural exhibit at the Garden. \nBeginning in the 1800s\, Gyotaku\, translated directly as “fish printing”\, was initially developed as a way for a fisherman to document their catch by coating one side of the fish with traditional Sumi ink and pressing it onto mulberry paper. Over time\, this practice evolved into an art form of its own. \nEntry to the garden is free the whole day from noon to closing for Free First Thursday.  \nImage sourced from event website.
