In 2005, musician Morgan Taylor created Gustafer Yellowgold — a funny, friendly, pinecone-loving creature from the sun. Along with a cast of similarly-yellow characters and an eel sidekick, Gustafer Yellowgold was known for taking audiences on far out musical journeys with songs like “Dark Pie,” “Wisconsin Poncho,” “The Brightest Beef,” and “Pterodactyl Tuxedo,” to name a few. Quirky and infused with an infectious rock sensibility, Gustafer has appealed to audiences of all ages, opening for groups like Wilco and The Polyphonic Spree and receiving Grammy nominations in 2015 and 2017.
As many might know, Gustafer Yellowgold’s creator, Morgan Taylor, passed away unexpectedly earlier this summer. Taylor had a way of honoring the creativity and absurdity of childhood, while giving the inner child of grown-ups a moment to shine, too. In honor of the magic that Morgan and Gustafer Yellow brought to us all, Town Hall Seattle hosts a special performance with an incredible lineup of kid-and-adult-friendly favorites. Join us for a performance of favorite Gustafer songs, with special appearances by Caspar Babypants and Recess Monkey (both briefly returning from retirement for the show), The Not-Its!, Lori Henriques, Rachel Loshak, Charlie Hope, and Frances England.
All proceeds from this show will benefit Morgan Taylor’s family.
