For 35 years, Youth Theatre Northwest (YTN) has served youth from the Puget Sound region with high-quality arts education. YTN produces dynamic theatre for thousands of families, introducing young audiences to the magic of the performing arts while inspiring developing actors with the thrill of live performance. Celebrate our amazing legacy and join us for our 35th season of “theatre by kids, for kids!”
Youth Theatre commences its 35th Summer Season by animating a popular story by celebrated children’s author Kevin Henkes. Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse is adapted by Kevin Kling and directed by Rachel Carlson. The show performs outdoors on Mercer Island on the lawn of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and at Rotary Park (on Wednesday, Thursday and Sundays). Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket or fold-up chair and a basket of delicious goodies for this unique outdoor production. For tickets and information, visit YouthTheatre.org.
Show description: Lily is a delightful mouse that loves to dance. Lilly loves her school until the day she brings her new purple plastic purse to class. She is so anxious to share her new things that she ignores her teacher's warning to wait and interrupts the class. When her teacher takes away her beloved possessions, Lilly is furious. What happens next presents a lesson for all to learn from.
