National ParkRx Day is a day celebrated across the United States to promote the growing movement of prescribing parks and nature to patients to improve human health.

Come out to Point Defiance Park and get your prescription filled!

Schedule

  • 11:00 am- 3:00 pm  Drop in anytime and take part in nature-based art activities at the Rhododendron Garden Pavilion.
     

The following free programs have limited capacity. Meet at Rhododendron Garden Pavilion; first come, first served

  • 11:30 am - 12:30 pm    Forest Mindfulness
  • 1:00 - 2:00 pm    Nature Walk
  • 2:30 - 3:30 pm    Tacoma Giants Tree Walk
  • 4:00 - 5:00 pm    Slug Celebration Walk

All programs are free and open to drop-ins. No registration necessary.

National ParkRx Day encourages everyone to start seeing visits to parks and public lands as very important parts of their health. In 2015, the U.S. Surgeon General released a call to action to promote walking and walkable communities. National ParkRx Day builds on this call to action and provides citizens with parks and green spaces to promote public health.
