Scarecrow Video Anniversary Party

Calendar/Event Details

On Saturday, October 20th, local 501(c)(3) Scarecrow Video continues its celebration of 30 years as a world-renowned and locally treasured champion of physical media by hosting a Video Store Day party. This day-long festival at Scarecrow’s Roosevelt location will feature:

  • a huge 50%-off sale on almost every title from the vaunted Criterion Collection, select titles from Kino Lorber, and all used items
  • games with prizes and giveaways including DVDs, movie collectibles, event tickets, restaurant and brewery gift cards, and wine from local wineries
  • DJ No Retreat No Surrender spinning music soundtracks
  • food from Seoul Bowl and beer from Lagunitas
  • Video Store Day is an international effort to celebrate institutions that give film lovers the full freedom to curate their own cinematic experiences. As streaming catalogs continue to shrink and the price and complexity of maintaining multiple subscriptions grows, physical media is more important than ever and Scarecrow’s collection of 131,000 titles is one of the world’s largest.

Scarecrow has been connecting people with their next favorite films since 1988. Becoming a non-profit in 2014 created new opportunities to extend this mission through outreach programs like the Silver Screeners film series for older adults and a free Children’s Hour for families.

To raise funds for these programs, Scarecrow is holding an online auction in conjunction with Video Store Day. Items will include unique memorabilia (including very cool goodies generously provided by Twin Peaks cast members and other notables in the film community) and one-of-a-kind Scarecrow experiences. A full listing will be available on the event website on 10/15.

When:  October 20th – 11:00am to 11:00 pm
Where:  Scarecrow Video, 5030 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105
