VIRTUAL: Black in the Valley Exhibit with White River Valley Museum

Calendar/Event Details

Take a moment for some educational family time. Check out the White River Valley Museum's eye-opening virtual exhibit of early black history in the White River Valley from 1830-1970.

Black history in King County largely focuses on the Black community in Seattle, especially the Central District. This isn't just an accident of history- racist laws, labor practices and a culture of white supremacy in both urban and rural regions on the county made it difficult if not impossible for Black workers and their families to live and thrive in most towns and encouraged the concentration of Black businesses, homes and community organizations in relatively few neighborhoods.
