Listen to stories as your homemade goodness bakes in the oven. You'll even have a chance to share your baking process at the end of the class (optional).

Ingredients

- 4 tablespoons (55 grams) unsalted butter, divided, plus more for pan
- 3 cups (390 grams) all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup (130 grams) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk OR easy alternative 1 3/4 cup milk with 1.75 tablespoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. Many more alternatives with this link. Bekka will discuss them in class.
- 1 1/2 cups raisins or dried currants (optional)
- 1 tablespoon caraway seeds (optional)
Supplies
10-inch ovenproof skillet or use a similarly sized cake pan or casserole dish
parchment paper (optional) or butter or spray to grease pan
2 mixing bowls
small bowl to crack eggs
small bowl or pan to melt 2 Tbsp butter
1 measuring cup
1/2 measuring cup
1/3 measuring cup
1 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
tablespoon
liquid measuring cup (ideally 2 cup but not necessary)
