SUMMARY:Whole Village Song Circle
DESCRIPTION:Songs for adults\, space for kids. \nOVERVIEW\nJoin The People’s Echo (TPE) on Sunday\, 10/25 for our FIRST Whole Village Song Circle – rain or shine! All voices and all ages are welcome\, and no singing experience is necessary. Whole Village is an all-ages community singing experience: the songs will (still) be primarily geared toward adults\, while kids are welcomed into the space to listen\, sing\, move\, play\, and participate in whatever way works for them. We’ll have a kids’ activity area\, with an autumnal craft\, right next to the song circle with a dedicated facilitator\, though please note that parents or caregivers are still responsible for supervising their children. So\, the same song-circle fun we are used to\, with a little more space and grace for our little ones. And you don’t need to have kids to join us! We hope our friends\, neighbors\, aunties\, uncles\, and elders will come sing\, too – it takes all of us to make a village. Songs will be led by Gabrielle Gelfand\, Miranda Catsambas and Kim Varner. \nLOCATION:\nGaswork Park – Shelter #1\nWe’re meeting at Shelter #1\, which has a large covered area\, so the song circle is rainor shine! Park map:\nhttps://tinyurl.com/4uy4pebz\nGoogle Maps pin:\nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/jmqwC9aem3yQUyUa8\nEVENT FLOW:\n3pm – Arrival\, settling in\n3:30 – Song circle\n5:30 – Closing \n$10-30 SUGGESTED DONATION:\nKids are welcome to attend for free; if your family is able\, we appreciate an additional contribution for kiddos in order to help cover the cost of our dedicated activity facilitator.\nVenmo: @thepeoplesecho\nNo one turned away for lack of funds.\nHow these funds are used: For this event\, the funds collected will be used to pay for the venue and the dedicated activity facilitator for the kids. \nACCESSIBILITY: Partially ADA-accessible; more info TBA! \nWHAT IS THE PEOPLE’S ECHO?\nThe People’s Echo is a healing-centered song collective based on Coast Salish Lands. We catch and share songs as medicine for these times\, and tend to community through the practice of joining our voices in song. Our mission is to heal ourselves and the world through the practice of community singing and to reclaim our voices as instruments for personal and collective liberation.
