HSDC's Community Preschools offer high quality early education for ALL kids through two classrooms. The Ned Behnke Speech Language Preschool offers a language rich environment for children with hearing loss and/or speech challenges, as well as peer models. Kids of all abilities benefit from the theme-based classroom, with learning areas focused on developing literacy, science, communication and social-emotional skills. Currently the Behnke Preschool offers 2 part-day programs: a morning class (9:00 - 11:30 am) for kids 2 1/2 - 3 years of age, and an afternoon class (12:30 - 4:30 pm) for kids 4-5 years of age. Only interested in a full-day program? Email us anyway, because there may be changes soon! The Rosen Family Preschool primarily serves children who are deaf or hard of hearing, although hearing siblings or children of Deaf adults (CODAs) are also a good fit. Rosen offers a bilingual classroom, giving kids a foundation in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English. The Rosen Preschool currently offers a full day program, 9 am - 3 pm, Monday - Thursday, with home visits on Fridays, getting parents involved in their child's education!
