EMP is a leading-edge, nonprofit museum, dedicated to the ideas and risk-taking that fuel popular culture. With its roots in rock ‘n’ roll, EMP serves as a gateway museum, reaching multigenerational audiences through our collections, exhibitions, and educational programs. EMP hosts family-friendly guitar tutorials, DIY crafts, live-music events, and houses Sound Lab—equipped with hands-on studios, instruments, microphones, and mixing equipment to encourage EMP visitors to perform, record, and produce music as unique as they are. Students K through 12 are invited to take a journey of artistic exploration and self-discovery during summer break. EMP is partnering with School of Rock and Rain City Rock Camp for Girls to bring teens an array of rock-centric opportunities focused on Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and more. Kids in 1st to 8th grade will have access to theater arts and wide range of musical styles and instruments when EMP joins forces with Seattle Children’s Theatre and Pacific Science Center. Participants of all ages will take part in a variety of collaborative learning experiences guaranteed to expand their arts knowledge, gain valuable skill sets, and make lifelong connections.
