Miriam's Creative Summer Programs

My name is Miriam and I am offering amazing craft camps this summer in my home! Every week I will alternate between teaching children from 5 on up the basics of knitting and fiber arts or recycled crafts. In the Knitting and Fiber Arts session, children will enter the wonderful world of creating with yarn! Children will learn basic knitting stitches (or finger knitting), how to make knitting needles, natural fiber dying, and how to choose yarn for a project. Each child will get to take home a knitting "kit" to complete or work on throughout the week. Projects will be dependent on age appropriateness, development and capability, so there will be a variety of options available. During the Recycled Crafts sessions we will discover the joy of repurposing things that might be thrown out! We will create new, beautiful treasures, such as: summer keepsake bags made from used jeans, covering thrifted journals with fabric, making cool jewelry from used plastic water bottles or used t-shirts, and crafting mini stuffed animals. Children will choose a project they would like to work on throughout the week, but will have the opportunity to do small craft projects dependent on age and capability.
