Living Like a Citizen: Raising Leaders in a Complicated World
Kick off Camp Fair with this special ParentEd Talk by Citizen University cofounder and CEO Eric Liu.
In a society that is frequently rocked by tragedy, intense social unrest and political division, how can we as parents help our kids process the upheaval and learn to “live like a citizen”? Citizen University cofounder and CEO Eric Liu joins ParentMap to outline his inspiring vision for how we can all become “sworn-again Americans,” recommitting to the ideals of our democracy and modeling norms of responsible leadership and community service for our children.
About the speaker
Eric Liu is a former White House speechwriter and deputy domestic policy adviser (for President Bill Clinton), cofounder of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility and cofounder and CEO of Citizen University. He has written several bestselling books on leadership and citizenship, including “The True Patriot” and “The Gardens of Democracy” (coauthored with Nick Hanauer), “Become America: Civic Sermons on Love, Responsibility, and Democracy” and “You’re More Powerful Than You Think: A Citizen’s Guide to Making Change Happen,” among others.
