Umoja Fest & the Africatown Heritage Parade are legacy events that have taken place in the heart of Seattle’s Central District for over 8 decades and is a Seafair Sanctioned event.

This annual celebration brings the Community together each summer for what call a big family reunion! Umoja Fest’s mission is to produce a world-class festival and parade that represents people of the African Diaspora that entertains, educates and empowers the community.

The purpose of the festival and parade is to highlight the history and countless contributions of African-Americans locally and abroad. It is a celebration that gives people from all over the State of Washington an opportunity to experience the rich Black African heritage and culture of the region. The Festival also attracts diverse groups of people of all ages, ethnicities, demographics and lifestyles.

Highlights of the festival include The Africatown Heritage parade, The Soul in the City Stage, The Best of Both Worlds Fashion Show, Afro beats/Vibez Stage, Children’s/Teen Village, Vendor Marketplace, VR Tech Lounge and The Heal the Hood Basketball/ Football tournaments.

The Africatown Heritage Parade is at the center of the UMOJA Festival celebration. Come and join our community in celebrating our culture, kids, and the organizations supporting our cause. From drill teams to marching bands to The Buffalo Soldiers to the old-school cars, the UMOJA Fest Africatown Parade will keep you entertained.
