Recurring Event (See all)

Join us as we honor the spirits of our beloved animals and the joy they brought to our lives!

In honor of Día de Muertos, Woodland Park Zoo invites you to join us in celebrating and remembering the pets and animals who have touched our lives through a special Animal Ofrenda. Throughout the celebration, guests can enjoy family-friendly activities, including paper picture frame decorating and themed coloring pages, along with a few other surprises to be announced. Whether you choose to contribute a tribute or simply experience this heartfelt display, we invite you to join us in honoring the spirit of Día de Muertos and the animals who brought joy to our lives.

The ofrenda will be unveiled on Tuesday, October 27, and will be accessible to guests during regular zoo hours through November 1, 2026.

Beginning October 19, 2026, our dedicated zoo staff will start constructing the ofrenda at Briar Oak, and we encourage the community to participate by adding photos, offerings, and tributes to beloved animals who have passed. For those unable to visit in person, digital participation will also be available.

We will begin accepting digital submissions of photos, memories, tributes, and other offerings on October 22, 2026.

Important Details:

-Public contributions will begin on October 19, 2026 during zoo hours (admission or membership required; no drop-offs accepted).
-Zoo staff will be available at select times in Briar Oak to assist with printing digital photos (dates and times TBD). Coloring sheets and photo frame decorating supplies will also be available during these hours.
-Photos, drawings, or notes submitted digitally will be featured in a slideshow playing on the TVs located inside Briar Oak. The deadline for photo submissions is October 25, 2026.
