It’s story time! Teacher Raven introduces the classic storybook “Mouse Paint” by Ellen Stoll Walsh.

Video 2: Color Mixing Mouse Paint-Along With Teacher Raven 

Ages 2 and older

Teacher Raven retells the story “Mouse Paint” with a paint-along activity! As she tells the story, children (with parent support, if needed) are invited to follow her steps to create their own mouse story painting at home.

Supplies needed:

• Paint in primary colors (tempera paint, craft paint, finger paint or liquid watercolor paint)
• Paper to paint on
• Three white cotton balls (representing the three white mice)

Video 3: Loose-Parts Mouse Construction

All ages, with parent support

Learn how to make bottle-cork mice using familiar objects from home. Teacher Raven provides several ways to construct the mice, including alternative options in case you don’t have all the listed materials. Parents can do as much or as little of the construction as needed, but children should be encouraged to do the painting and drawing steps.

Supplies needed:

• Bottle corks
• White paint
• Paper clips
• Pipe cleaners
• Black Sharpie

Video 4: Set the Stage! Guide to Setting Up Mouse Paint Provocation at Home

All ages

Teacher Raven explains how to use our cork mice (or other small toys from home) to create a mess-free play invitation that children can engage with independently, time and time again! Raven also offers bonus tips for tailoring this experience to your child’s developmental level.

Supplies needed:

• Three ziplock bags
• Duct tape
• Primary paint colors
• Cork mice or other toy animal figures
• Colorful toys and materials from home (such as, but not limited to. rainbow puzzles, Magna-Tiles, blocks, balls, etc.)

Each kit includes carefully curated materials and instructions, three activities, pre-made slime or play dough, a coloring sheet and a corresponding video created by Teacher Raven! The kits are thoughtfully designed for children ages 3–8 with a balance of activities to inspire independent play and provide hands-on art activities that Roaring Mouse is known for.
