Kids On The Brink: Raising Emotionally Healthy Youth

In this event, Donna Jackson Nakazawa will combine cutting-edge science, real student voices, and practical tools to help adults better support today’s youth.

Donna will cover:

  • The latest research on female brain development
  • The unprecedented challenges facing teens today and why so many are in crisis
  • How these factors impact youth mental health
  • Why social stress, in particular, is the most damaging type of stress for kids
  • How regulating ourselves helps our kids regulate their emotions

Participants will gain:

  • Actionable strategies parents, families, and organizations can utilize to better support our youth
  • 12 science-based steps for talking with youth in neuroprotective ways and building healthier parent-child connection

Donna will also share highlights from her national Post-It Note Project, featuring insights from thousands of middle and high school students about what they wish their parents and other adults understood—and did—differently.

This event will be moderated by Christy Keating from The Heartful Parent Collective.
