Brightwater Spring Stroll and Nature Challenge Kick-off

Friday, April 24 @ 4 p.m.–6 p.m.

Kick off your spring exploration with other nature enthusiasts on the trails at Brightwater! This year we will be participating in the City Nature Challenge (CNC), helping jumpstart Team Seattle Metro Area’s efforts to make more observations of species over the weekend of April 24-27 than any other city in the world!!!

Run by the Community Science teams at the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the CNC is an annual four-day global urban bioblitz at the end of April, where cities are in a collaboration-meets-friendly-competition to see not only what can be accomplished when we all work toward a common goal, but also which city can gather the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the event. We recommend downloading the iNaturalist app prior to arrival.

Adult participation is expected. We want families to learn and work together! Although this event is recommended for participants 6+, we are open to all ages. Please make a decision about your child’s ability to participate based on the following information: This event involves 1.5 miles of walking, including some optional off-trail exploration. More information about the City Nature Challenge can be found here.
