On Saturday, June 20 at 3pm, Vashon Center for the Arts is throwing open its doors for our 60th Birthday Bash, a free, all-ages celebration of six decades of creativity, connection, and community on this island. Come as you are. Bring the kids. Bring your neighbors. Bring your lawn chair.
This one is for everybody.
Singer the Whale – making his public debut. VCA’s gray whale skeleton will be on display for the very first time, and he is extraordinary.
Live music and entertainment from two of Vashon’s finest: Portage Fill Harmonic, RiverBend, and Luz the Clown
Line dancing – yes, really, and yes, you should!
Hands-on arts and crafts for all ages
Food vendors from some of your island favorites
The Memory Booth – step inside the Blue Heron and share your favorite VCA memory from the past 60 years, then catch the community slideshow featuring photos and stories submitted by islanders just like you
A campus-wide scavenger hunt – explore every corner of VCA and see what you find
Door prizes – including a signed Seattle Kraken jersey and gift cards from island businesses
Raffle tickets on sale – $25 each for a chance to win two roundtrip tickets on Alaska or Hawaiian Airlines to anywhere they fly. A $3,500 value!
This is the kind of afternoon that reminds you exactly why you live here. VCA has been part of the fabric of this island for sixty years — the performances, the classes, the shows you still talk about, the artists who came and stayed — and this is our chance to celebrate all of it together.
The event is free. All are welcome. No tickets required, just show up.
We’ll see you on the 20th.
