Child Grooming Awareness & Prevention

Friday, Nov. 13 @ 4 p.m.–5:10 p.m.

Virtual

Grooming rarely looks scary. It usually looks like kindness: an adult who’s charming, attentive, generous and eager to help. In a 2024 study of 1,000+ survivors of childhood sexual abuse, grooming behaviors appeared in 99% of cases, and the most common one was simply seeming nice and likeable (Winters et al., Child Abuse & Neglect).

This 1-hour live online class (plus 10 minutes of Q&A) teaches parents, caregivers, teachers, coaches and mandated reporters how grooming actually unfolds, in person and online, and what to do about it. You’ll learn:
• The stages and common behaviors of grooming, and why they’re so hard to spot in the moment
• How grooming happens online, including by people kids already know
• Red flags in adults’ behavior vs. normal caring behavior
• Simple family rules and conversations that make kids harder to target and more likely to tell
• What to do if something feels off

Held live on Google Meet. $30 per person, adults only. Also offered Tue, Dec 15 at 6:30 PM PT.
