You know when you pour time, energy and money into a vacation itinerary, and you ask your kids what their highlight was and it’s almost always the … hotel pool? You’re not alone. So, whether you are a local in need of a staycation or you’re just visiting the Greater Seattle area, make a splash in one of these eight family-friendly hotel pools.

Note that average nightly rates fluctuate based on availability and you may want to consider additional fees such as parking.

North Shore Lagoon Swimming Pool at Anderson School Hotel, Bothell

Transport your family to the tropics at this McMenamins Hotel pool’s large saltwater lagoon. Relax as waterfalls trickle from bamboo spouts overhead, tropical foliage wraps the pool border, and chandeliers flood the lagoon with soft lighting. Even the water is like the tropics — it’s set between 88 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you haven’t stayed at a McMenamins hotel before, you’re in for a treat. McMenamins hotels transform historic buildings into whimsical hotels. The Anderson School Hotel converted three floors of its 1930s former classrooms into 72 lodging rooms. Each room is named after a notable person connected to the Bothell or Anderson School history.

Location: 18709 Bothell Way N.E., Bothell

Cost: Hotel rooms start at $149 per night. Hotel guests may swim for free during open pool hours from check-in until checkout. The public can also drop in for one-hour swim sessions Sunday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; adults are $8.50, children are $7, and kids 3 and younger are free. Bothell residents can swim for free.

Parent tip: Check out the Family Fun Nights on Fridays with games and floats. If you work up an appetite, the tropical vibes continue to the pub upstairs: Nui Nui.

Best luxury hotel with a pool in Seattle

Four Seasons Hotel

The Four Seasons Hotel Seattle ranks as the No. 1 hotel in Washington state according to U.S. News and World Report. The rooftop infinity pool boasts sweeping views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains. I dare you to find a better spot for a sunset. While the luxurious comforts of this hotel will be hard to want to leave, the location makes it easy to reach a slew of restaurants and attractions within minutes.

Location: 99 Union St., Seattle

Cost: Starts at $585 per night

Parent tip: Be spontaneous with many fun stops within steps of the Four Seasons, including: the Pier 58 playground, Seattle Great Wheel, Seattle Aquarium, Pike Place Market, Argosy Cruises, Wings Over Washington and endless restaurant options.

Best for a downtown Bellevue staycation

The Westin Bellevue

There are several downtown Bellevue hotels, but the Westin is my favorite when staying with my kids. Why? The pool! All the rooms were remodeled in 2024, and the pool and hot tub feel spacious with comfortable lounge chairs. There is also an outdoor patio where you can get some fresh air, overlooking Bellevue Way, or you can order from the in-room dining menu to get food delivered poolside.

The hotel’s central location is steps away from entertainment, restaurants and shopping at Lincoln Square and Bellevue Square. It’s also easy to walk to one of Bellevue’s best parks: Downtown Park and Inspiration Playground (which is well-lit at night!).

Location: 600 Bellevue Way N.E., Bellevue

Cost: Starts at $309 per night

Parent tip: Your kids will love the (free!) weekend popsicles by the pool. This location is perfect for Snowflake Lane during the holiday season, too. Bonus: The Westin participates in the year-round Shop and Stay Getaway package, giving you $100 per night to spend at the Bellevue Collection and more perks (book using the valid code found online).

Best hotel for younger kids

Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Southport, Renton

Enjoy lakeside views and an indoor pool, all with a nearby perk: The hotel neighbors Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, where you can play at the beach, walk the path along the 2 miles of shoreline, or let the kids run wild at the playground. Plane enthusiasts will appreciate the Boeing Factory views next door. Dogs are welcome at this hotel.

Location: 1053 Lake Washington Blvd. N., Renton

Cost: Starts at $175 per night, fall through spring; summer pricing starts at $250 per night.

Parent tip: Make this stay extra special for your kids with a Lakeside Glamping package, including a cozy indoor tent for little ones, board games and a s’mores kit to take lakeside. The Renton Library, Cedar River Trail Park and The Landing are all fun nearby destinations for entertaining the family as well.

Best hotel for catching the FIFA World Cup action

Silver Cloud Hotel – Seattle Stadium, Seattle

Wedged between Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park, The Silver Cloud Hotel – Seattle Stadium is in the middle of all of the Seattle sports action. Their rooftop pool and hot tub have stadium views, so even if you can’t get tickets to a game, you can surely feel (and hear) the excitement next door!

The Seattle Waterfront is just three blocks away, making this hotel an easy home base for waterfront attractions too, especially taking advantage of skipping the car ferry line by walking on. Taking the West Seattle Water Taxi to Marination Ma Kai is one of my favorite things to do. Kids 17 and younger ride for free!

Location: 1046 First Ave. S., Seattle

Cost: Starts at $200 per night

Parent tip: With the close proximity to all of the sporting events, I’d pack a white noise machine for sleeping.

Best for a South Sound adventure

Silver Cloud Hotel Tacoma at Point Ruston Waterfront

Opened in 2021, this luxurious waterfront hotel still has a newness to it, complete with a year-round rooftop pool and hot tub. The pool deck has cozy lounge spaces and fires for cooler days and nights. Enjoy the views of Mount Rainier, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic and Cascade Mountains.

Just steps outside the hotel, The Waterwalk trail and Point Ruston Village await with a seasonal splash pad, boutique shopping, dining and a movie theater. Parents who want to exercise on vacation will be spoiled by their massive 3,000-square-foot fitness center. Other attractive hotel amenities include the spa and the restaurant, Copper and Salt Northwest Kitchen.

Location: 5125 Grand Loop, Ruston

Cost: Starts at $269 per night

Parent tip: Choose your own adventure — walk along the urban waterfront, meander the seasonal farmers market with summer concerts and live entertainment or venture out. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is just 2 miles away. My car-loving boys (including my husband) enjoy visiting LeMay – America’s Car Museum (6 miles away). Owen Beach (2 miles away) is another fun beachfront park with a climbable orca whale and play area.

Best budget-friendly boutique hotel

The Maxwell Hotel by Staypineapple, Seattle

I love a good theme and a good deal. The Maxwell Hotel by Staypineapple checks both boxes with its pineapple symbol of hospitality sprinkled throughout the hotel, daily pineapple cookies and an average room rate under $300 a night. The indoor pool is just 4 feet deep, making it perfect for families. Dash the husky plush adorns the comfy beds and rooms include the little luxury of robes.

Upon check-in, you’ll receive a Core Welcome Drink and your room has its own Keurig for coffee and tea. Refill the provided Path water bottle in the lobby to stay hydrated on all of your city adventures. The Movie Night Package (including staples like popcorn, soda and candy) can be added during booking to create a fun and cozy movie night in. This hotel is cute, classy and pet-friendly.

Location: 300 Roy St., Seattle

Cost: Starts at $249 per night

Parent tip: Walk or bike (using a complimentary pineapple bike!) a few blocks to the Seattle Center for tourist destinations: the Space Needle, Artists at Play Playground, Museum of Pop Culture and Seattle Children’s Museum, to name a few. Cool off at the International Fountain in the summer, or catch a game or event at Climate Pledge Arena.

Best Indoor/outdoor pool in downtown Seattle

Seattle Marriott Waterfront

Get the best of both worlds with this Marriott’s indoor/outdoor rooftop pool with sweeping views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains. Each guest room also has waterfront and mountain views.

Location: 2100 Alaskan Way, Seattle

Cost: Starts at $288 per night

Parent tip: Bring your scooters, bikes or walk the 1.2 miles of protected Seattle Waterfront lanes to Olympic Sculpture Park, Overlook Walk, Overlook Playground and Waterfront Park. Or swing on the Park Promenade close to the Seattle Ferry Terminal.
