Monday, Aug. 27, is Macrina Bakery's 25th birthday. But in a tasty twist, we get the presents. All week long, the legendary local bakery plans to give out baked goods, a different item each day, from Aug. 21–27. Mark your calendar for your favorite treat, or savor them all.

Baked goods will be given out at each of Macrina's four cafes, located in the Belltown, Queen Anne and SoDo neighborhoods of Seattle, and in Kent. (A fifth location is planned for Capitol Hill in Seattle, but it won't be open in time for the giveaways.)

A limited number of each free item will be given out at each cafe each day, so Macrina staff advises showing up early. Note that hours vary at each location: The Belltown and Queen Anne cafes open at 7 a.m. daily; SoDo opens at 7 a.m. Monday–Saturday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday; and Kent opens at 7 a.m. Monday–Friday and is closed on weekends.

Here are the baked goods on the giveaway docket (no purchase necessary; while supplies last):

  • Tuesday, Aug. 21 – Mini Casera Loaf
  • Wednesday, Aug. 22 – Lemon Bar
  • Thursday, Aug. 23 – Demi Sandwich (half)
  • Friday, Aug. 24 – Rick’s Cookie
  • Saturday, Aug. 25 – Rustic Potato Loaf
  • Sunday, Aug. 26 – Mini Budapest Coffee Cake
  • Monday, Aug. 27 – Skagit Sourdough Loaf

On Monday, Aug. 27, the day of Macrina's 25th anniversary, cafe prices will be reduced by 25 percent all day; it's also the day you can get the special new Skagit Sourdough Loaf. Reminder that a limited number of freebies are available at each location each day.

Macrina Bakery was founded in 1993 by Leslie Mackie.
