National Doughnut Day Sprinkles Sweetness Around Seattle
Where to mark National Doughnut Day in delicious fashion at local (and national) doughnut outlets
A special holiday for doughnuts? We are totally on board. It's National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 3, and some local shops are offering sweet deals and other fun. So whether some afternoon sugar will provide the pick-me-up you need, or a frosting-covered bribe for the kiddos will get you a few moments of peace (they can't argue with doughnuts stuffed in their mouths, right?), here's where to go.
Local shop Mighty-O Donuts is offering free mini doughtnuts all day at its three Seattle locations. Mighty-O invites doughnut lovers to pick up a Mighty-O passport and visit all three shops for a stamp. The shops are also collecting food donations for Northwest Harvest.
National chain Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut to anyone at any of its shops in the U.S. or Canada for National Doughtnut Day.
For its nod to National Doughnut Day, local doughnut purveyor Top Pot Hand-forged Doughnuts & Coffee is selling raffle tickets for $10 in support of Northwest Harvest. Raffle tickets are available at any of its Seattle and Eastside-area shops through 5 p.m. on Friday, June 3. Raffle prizes include a pair of round-trip tickest to any Alaska Airlines destination, passes to Bumbershoot, dinner for two at the Space Needle and more.
Really love doughnuts? Frost marks the holiday with its 7th annual doughnut-eating contest open to the public. The contest takes place at 6 p.m. on National Doughnut Day at Frost's Mill Creek Town Center location. Want to enter? Aspiring doughnut gobblers must preregister in one of three age categories; ages 6–12, ages 13–17, and ages 18 and older. A winner from each age group will take home a $100 Frost gift card along with "eternal doughnut glory!"
Rodeo Donut, a pop-up off-shoot of Cupcake Royale, offers a pre-order special in honor of National Doughnut Day: one dozen doughnuts for $20. Pre-order by phone by noon Thursday and pick up Friday. Rodeo's doughnuts will also be for sale Friday at Cupcake Royal's neighborhood locations: West Seattle, Queen Anne, Downtown at 2nd and Pine, Ballard, Capitol Hill and Madrona.
We don't have any Dunkin' Donuts outlets here in the Northwest, but alert your friends and relatives in other locales that Dunkin' is offering a free classic doughnut with the purchase of any beverage, at participating shops and while supplies last, on Friday, June 3.
Is your fave local doughnut shop doing something to mark National Doughnut Day? Or just want to give it a shout out? Post in the comments. Happy doughnut eating to all.Google+
