Due to the Great Seattle Snowpocalypse of 2010, I just got an internet connection -- I trudged blocks and blocks through snow and cold to get to this cafe, I tell you! Lots of people taking the day off, judging from the clientele at this here Starbucks. There's a cute besnowsuited family sucking down hot cocoa to the left of me. The kids look happy; the parents look a little...stressed. Like they missed Billy Collins last night AND had to cancel a big meeting this morning.
This email was waiting for me in my inbox when I finally got my machine to boot up -- good news for parents who can't take the day off when it snows. It's a little late for today, perhaps, but tuck this into your bag of tricks for this winter:
Orange Blossom Society in Redmond will offer School’s Out camps from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. during snow closures this winter. Camps begin Tuesday, Nov. 23 and are for ages 5-10. Activities include art, fitness, crafts, games, and play. Contact OBS at 425-883-2400 or lifeissweet@orangeblossomsociety.com to register.
UPDATE: I just heard back from Sharman at OBS, and she had this to say: "OBS will be offering Snow Day camps tomorrow (11/24) 9:30am to 3:30pm and Friday (11/26) 10:00am to 1:00pm. Cost is $12.00/hr or $50.00/day."
