Calendar Submission Guidelines
Thanks for your interest in submitting a community event to ParentMap’s Greater Seattle Family Calendar! To help ensure your event is approved and published quickly, please review the following submission guidelines and tips.
How to submit your event
- Important! Prior to submitting your event, please do a search on our calendar to make sure we don’t already have it listed. We add many events ourselves, and frequently update events that occur year to year.
- If your event recurs at the same time on additional dates, select the “Schedule multiple events” button to add daily, weekly or monthly recurrences that are all at the same time.
- If your event has more than one recurring time slot (e.g., 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. sessions) or switches recurrence patterns across date ranges (e.g., daily through June, then weekly in July), please submit a separate event entry for each schedule. On each entry, include a note in the Notes to Editor field so our team can link the events together as a series on the calendar.
- To make changes to an event you’ve already submitted, email calendar@parentmap.com.
- For your event to be published, all the required fields must be completed, including:
- Event title
- Put in title caps (i.e. Taming Your Baby Workshop, Free Community Picnic in the Park).
- Event description
- Event time and date(s)
- Event image
- For best quality, upload a horizontal/landscape image of 1080×760 pixels or larger. Max file size is 1 MB. For optimal display, please do not include text or logos on the image, as they may be cropped.
- Event categories
- These fields help our search engine categorize your event accurately
- Event website
- Please add a url that directly links to event information so people can find out more.
- Recommended ages
- Event submitter full name
- Event submitter email
- Organization name
- Event cost
- The format we use for prices is “$30 adult; $19 children” or “$19–$30.” If your event is free, please enter “Free.”

Incomplete entries will not be published.
We aim to publish events within a few weeks of submission, depending on how far in advance they’re submitted. If your event is coming up soon and you don’t see it, email calendar@parentmap.com and we will make every effort to expedite publication.
Criteria for publication
We publish events and activities that are for kids and families and that take place in the greater Puget Sound area. We do publish events that are for adults only, but generally only if they’re workshops or informational events related to parenting and families, or fundraising events that benefit organizations who serve children and families.
We generally will publish no more than seven instances per week of any one organization’s events, though exceptions may be made.
We do not publish general notices that a school, organization or store is open for business or taking registrations. We do publish specific events such as a school open house or the grand opening of a museum.
Please note, we have deactivated our a separate Camps + Classes Calendar for camps and ongoing classes. We are sorry we are unable to continue this calendar and therefore we no longer publish multi-day camps and multi-session classes. If your camp or class occurs on a single day, or accepts drop-ins, you are welcome to submit it to our Family Fun Calendar.
