Recurring Event (See all)

Catch a trout and win a prize! The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Trout Derby is back in 2026 at more than 100 stocked lakes statewide. Over 60 generous businesses have donated over 900 donated prizes valued at more than $43,000!

This 11th annual derby is open to anyone with a valid 2026 fishing license (children under 16 fish for free), and no entry fee or registration is required. To win a prize, just catch a green-tagged rainbow trout at a participating lake anytime between April 25 and October 31. Come back to this site, enter your tag number, discover what you have won and how to claim your prize.

How it works:

1. FISH A PARTICIPATING LAKE

2. CATCH TAGGED TROUT
Winning derby trout will have an green tag attached near their fin. Keep the tag! You will need it to claim your prize.

3. FILL OUT THE PRIZE CLAIM FORM:
Enter the tag number listed on the side of the derby tag, the lake you caught it in, the date it was caught, and your contact information.

4. WIN BIG
Take your tag to the business location you were provided and claim your derby prize!

5. SHARE YOUR SUCCESS!
Take a photo of yourself and your winning derby trout to share on social media. #watroutderby
