Hmong New Year Celebration

Seattle Hmong New Year will take place on Nov. 8: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. (Day Program) & 7–10 p.m. (Night Program) at the Armory Food & Event Hall. The festival is part of the Seattle Center Festál series. It is free and open to the public.

Join the Hmong community at this family-friendly event as they gather to honor community elders during this time of celebrating the end of the harvest season and the coming of the new year!

Guests can experience an extensive Hmong heritage exhibit of artifacts, embroidery design, and more in partnership with the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. Other highlights include:

-Fashion of the Hmong Diaspora: intricate textile clothing showcasing unique styles and history
-Traditional dances and songs by local performers
-Pov Pob, a traditional ball-tossing courtship ritual
-Children’s activities
-Merchant marketplace with arts, crafts, clothing, embroidery, and a variety of traditional food vendors
-Evening Concert by national performers

Seattle Center Festál presents Seattle Hmong New Year in partnership with Hmong Association of Washington (HAW). The festival celebrates the end of the harvest season with intricate clothing, dance, food and more.
