Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration will take place on May 4,11 a.m.–6pm at the Armory Food & Event Hall. The festival is part of the Seattle Center Festál series. It is free and open to the public.
Activities include:
- Traditional and contemporary dances, drill teams and musical performances by Mak Fai Lion Dance Team, Seattle Chinese Community Girls Drill Team, Huayin Performing Arts Group, Khmer Amarak Performing Arts, and Guma’ Imahe
- More performers include Kinnaly Lao Traditional Music & Dance Troupe, Halau Hula O Napualani, Seattle Lataki Group, KOSMIX, Live2Dance, and Kaze Daiko
- Martial arts demonstrations by JunHong’s Kung Fu Club
- The Alan Sugiyama Hum Bow Eating Contest
- Lori Matsukawa: children's book reading
- Children’s activities
- API community tables
- Food, beverages and craft vendors
Seattle Center Festál presents Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration in partnership with the Asian Pacific Directors Coalition (APDC). The festival marks the beginning of the officially proclaimed and recognized Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) of May in the Greater Seattle area. It aims to preserve and promote the culture, heritage and contributions of Asian Pacific Islanders (API) and Asian Pacific Americans (APA).
