State Parks Discover Pass Free Days! Washington State Parks offers several "free days" when a Discover Pass is not required to visit a state park. Following are 2016 free days: Jan. 1: State Parks' First Day Hikes Jan. 17-18: Martin Luther King Day March 19: State Parks' 103rd birthday March 26: Saturday Spring Day April 22: Earth Day May 8: Sunday Spring Day June 4: National Trails Day June 11: National Get Outdoors Day Aug. 25: National Park Service Birthday Sept. 24: National Public Lands Day Nov. 11: Veterans' Day Please note, free days apply only to day use (not overnight stays or rented facilities). A Discover Pass is still required to access lands managed by the Washington state departments of Natural Resources and Fish & Wildlife on these days. Sno-Park permits are still required on free days at designated Sno-Parks during the winter season.
