50th Annual Kalevala Concert

Saturday, May 23 @ 6 p.m.–7 p.m.

The Finnish Choral Society celebrates its 50th Annual Kalevala Concert with a vibrant program of music, storytelling, and community singing inspired by Finland’s national epic, the Kalevala.

This year’s concert traces the journey of song through the world of the Kalevala — from the moment inspiration first stirs, to the travels of the great singer Väinämöinen, to the ways song becomes woven into daily life, love, grief, and celebration.

The program features choral music, solo vocal performances, readings from the Kalevala, and opportunities for the audience to join in traditional Finnish songs. Together we explore how music is born, shared, and ultimately entrusted to the people — continuing long after the heroes themselves have gone.

Join us for an evening of storytelling, singing, and living tradition!
