It’s our third annual Bat Night at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands!
Come join us at the farm for a fun and educational night about bats with Bats Northwest and Woodland Park Zoo to learn about the Bat Activity Trends (BAT) community science program and how you can help us learn more about bats in Seattle.
6 p.m. — We will start with a family friendly activity.
6:30 p.m. — Educational talk on bats covering adaptations, behavior and biology.
7 p.m. — Instructions for the BAT community science project and a 30-minute bat observation.
We’ll be exploring the world of our local bats and the incredible adaptations that make them vital to our environment. The BAT program invites YOU to become a community scientist by observing bats right in your own neighborhood. Our goal is to collect data on bat sightings throughout Washington, and your participation makes a difference! Connecting with nature and observing local wildlife is not only educational, but also a wonderful way to appreciate and protect the environment around us.
Please wear appropriate shoes, and we recommend bringing bug spray and a headlamp. No RSVP necessary.
