Family Bird and Plant Walk

Saturday, June 6 @ 9 a.m.–11 a.m.

Join the Environmental Science Center for a facilitated bird and plant walk at Seahurst Park. Take a guided walk in the park while learning about the birds and plants around you. Both have evolved together and play important roles in the health of local watersheds, as well as the mental health of people.

We will start with an introduction on how to properly use binoculars and give tips for identifying birds by both sight and sound. We’ll share identification tips, species adaptations and the importance of providing native habitats. This program is designed families with youth ages 8-13 a chance to explore and learn together about the birds and plants around us.

Registration required for all participants. This walk is geared toward ages 8+. We’ll slowly venture throughout the park exploring the shoreline and the forest of Seahurst Park. There are some steep hills and sandy beachfront, but we’ll go at a slow pace along the forested trails, beach, and the gravel pathways.
