Seattle Folklórico Festival

Friday, Aug. 16 @ 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Joyas Mestizas is proud to present the 2026 Pacific Northwest Folklórico Festival on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Brockey Center at South Seattle College. Since 2022, this celebration has brought together folklórico dancers from across the region to honor and share the vibrant artistic traditions of Mexico.

This year’s theme, Seguimos Volando (“Dancing Forward Together”), celebrates movement, resilience, and the enduring strength of community. Inspired by the monarch butterfly’s remarkable journey, the theme honors the courage it takes to continue forward; carrying stories, traditions, and identities across distance, change, and time. Through dance, music, and cultural expression, participants celebrate the ways our communities persevere, adapt, and continue to soar.

In 2025, Joyas Mestizas made the difficult decision to cancel the festival out of concern for the safety and well-being of community members amid heightened immigration enforcement activity. As organizers planned for the festival’s return, they took thoughtful steps to create an environment where hundreds of dancers, families, and guests can gather with confidence and joy. As part of these efforts, attendance requires advance registration, which is now open at joyasmestizas.org.

The festival will feature performances by more than ten folklórico groups from throughout the Pacific Northwest, along with food and artisan vendors, community resource booths, and family-friendly cultural activities. By bringing together dancers and audiences from across the region, the festival celebrates the rich diversity of Mexican traditions and the power of cultural arts to strengthen community connections.
