SOGO Winter Concert

Sunday, March 1 @ 4 p.m.–6 p.m.

SOGO’s winter concert shines a spotlight on Olympia Symphony Principal Cellist Holly Reeves, a longtime friend of SOGO and an influential mentor to generations of young cellists across the region. Many of her students are past or present members of SOGO. Holly joins the Conservatory Orchestra for a movement from Grażyna Bacewicz’s Concerto No. 1 for Cello and Orchestra. The program also features the evocative Spanish themes of Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1, the charming Allegro in Waltz by SOGO flutist and composer Karina Bone of Montesano, and Balmages’ lively (UP)LIFTED.

Rounding out the concert, the Philharmonic and Academy Orchestras and Brass Choir will impress with their vibrant interpretations of both timeless favorites and bold contemporary works.
