Viewing the stars at night in Darrington is super-special. Viewing them up on the summit of nearby North Mountain is even better! At this event, marvel at the night sky and maybe capture some special shots with or without your “star performer”, the lookout silhouette at night!
The Perseids meteor shower peaks Aug 12-13
The moon will have just left its new moon phase the night before.
So it will be a great night to be up there!
Parking will be limited to the upper parking lot, with arranged shuttle transportation for viewing equipment (telescopes), and those desiring to avoid a 1.25 mile hike.
Plan to arrive after having eaten (or plans to bring to the parking lot) your evening meal, though we will aspire to having refreshments easy to serve “in the dark” at the foot of the tower.
Telescopes will be set up on the ground, not on the tower proper.
No drones allowed.
More information on registering a telescope for the party will come later. We are exploring cooperation with the Seattle Astronomical Society.
