StoryWalk at Lake Wilderness Arboretum

Friday, Oct. 2 @ 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Recurring Event (See all)

The Lake Wilderness Arboretum and Maple Valley Library have partnered together to bring a StoryWalk to Maple Valley. StoryWalk is an innovative approach to encouraging people of all ages to get out and walk while enjoying wonderful children’s books. With her wealth of experience, Sharon Chastain, the children’s librarian at the Maple Valley Library, selects the best children’s books for this story walk project. Then the pages are installed in frames along the Arboretum’s Main Looping Trail so as you walk, you can read the book one page at a time, all while enjoying being outside. Our hope is that this feature will provide children a new way to see, learn and experience the amazing world that we live in.

October StoryWalk:

This month’s StoryWalk selection, A Very Big Fall written by Emmy Kastner, is a charming picture book about finding joy in change. As summer comes to an end and the air begins to chill and breezes begin to blow, three leaf friends each have their own way of facing this change. New situations can be scary but these leaf friends learn that it can also be thrilling. Perhaps something we all need to remind ourselves about.

So get outside, go for a walk, and read a book.
