Enjoy traditional Japanese dance, taiko drumming, Japanese food and more at the Tacoma Bon Odori. This annual street festival features hundreds of temple members and visitors performing simple Japanese dances in front of the Tacoma Buddhist Temple to honor loved ones who have passed.
Feel free to bring blankets or small folding chairs for seating. Everyone is welcome to dance or just watch!
4 p.m. Food, beer garden, and booths open.
4:30 p.m. Obon service, open to all.
5 to 8 p.m. Dancing and taiko drumming.
8 p.m. Memorial candle observance.
Menu highlights: teriyaki bowls, cold somen, Spam musubi, strawberry mochi trifle and pie. Credit cards preferred.
