Your Kid Wants to Start a Business: Here’s How to Help

Wednesday, July 1 @ 12 p.m.–1:30 p.m.

You will walk out of this event knowing exactly what to say the next time your kid pitches you their big idea.

This is: 1/3 lecture. 1/3 sharing. 1/3 workshop. 100% useful.

Does your kid have a business idea but no idea what to do next? Is your kid super entrepreneurial?

Most young entrepreneurs get stuck. Not because they lack creativity. Because nobody showed them the structure.

Most kids (and most adults) think a business is just a product and a customer. But the real magic happens when a young founder learns to think like a CEO: how to test an idea, build a simple system, and grow something that doesn’t collapse the moment they’re not paying attention.

I’ve taught 10,000+ students in my career. The kids who get to build aren’t always the most talented, they’re the ones who had one adult in their corner who knew how to channel the idea. Support. Strength.

That adult can be you. You don’t need a business background. You just need a framework.

You’ll learn how to evaluate your kid’s idea without crushing it, help them learn through experimenting, and learn what questions to ask instead of giving answers. We’ll talk about how to set up the simplest possible first step and how to make the whole thing a genuine learning experience, even if it “fails.”

Your host: Kelly Kirk, founder of Kelly Tutors, educator to 10,000+ students, nominee for “Rising Leader” at the 2023 Women in Toys Wonder Women Awards, and a participant of the 2025 White House AI Presidential Challenge.
