Technology promised to transform learning. But as screens have steadily crept into nearly every aspect of education, many parents are asking whether EdTech has gone too far – and how they can work with educators to make more intentional choices about classroom technology.

Emily Cherkin, M.Ed., a former teacher and nationally recognized speaker known as The Screentime Consultant joins us for a timely ParentMap Talks session to help parents take a closer look at technology’s growing role in their children’s education. As a parent who opted her teens out of the student laptop, Cherkin brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience to the conversation. Cherkin will help you understand how EdTech impacts learning, ask informed questions about technology use and explore how families and educators can work together to address concerns about screen use while recognizing schools’ educational priorities and constraints.

You’ll learn:

  • What every parent should know about EdTech today
  • How families and schools can work together to evaluate classroom technology
  • What parents should know about classroom technology choices and opt-out options
  • Ways to promote screen-free learning at home

Whether you’re curious about the role of tech in your child’s classroom or are ready to take action, this conversation is for you. Reserve your spot for the live Zoom Talk and get access to the recording to watch anytime.
