The winter holidays usher in a whirlwind of home-cooked feasts and baking marathons. But fun as they may be, sometimes families just need a break from the kitchen — and to let someone else handle the meal plans and the cleanup.

Enter the Seattle-area restaurants that take their holiday game to the next level: taking care of everything from the Thanksgiving turkey with all the fixings to winter-wonderland decor where your fam can delight in the magic of the season. Kid-approved menus, festive high teas, giant Nutcrackers, and photo-ops galore await at these restaurants that are going all out on the holiday spirit, and all in on family fun!

If you’re looking to treat your loved ones to the ultimate indulgent holiday outing, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel is your essential stop. This downtown Seattle landmark pulls out all the stops for the season, with the five-star luxury factor it’s known for. The experience begins with the adorable Teddy Bear Suite, where nearly 100 cuddly bears, candy canes and a towering Christmas tree await photos and hugs by the fireplace. And when it’s time for that holiday meal, plentiful festive options are on the menu this year.

The hotel’s main dining room, The George, hosts a family-style dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day alongside its traditional Gingerbread Tea, which runs all December long and offers afternoon tea with a dessert cart and holiday goodies. Another famous tradition, the Nutcracker Tea en Pointe returns on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, where tea is served alongside live “The Nutcracker” performances by Olympic Ballet Theatre.

Other holiday dining choices include a four-course Christmas dinner at Shuckers, the hotel’s oyster bar, and a to-go Fairmont at Home feast that comes complete with a turkey, sides and all the trimmings packed to enjoy in the comfort of your dining room. Meanwhile, grown-ups lucky enough to snag a kid-free date night can enjoy Winter’s Alchemy — an exclusive experience pairing wintry libations with chef-curated bites in a theatrical presentation.

There’s no shortage of delectable ways to celebrate the season at the cozy Goldfinch Tavern inside Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. Choose between a lavish buffet or a plated three-course dinner for Thanksgiving, showcasing chef-driven specialties with a Pacific Northwest twist on the classics, from turkey to prime rib, seafood and seasonal desserts galore.

And once wintertime makes its appearance, choose from Christmas Eve or daytime dining with multiple-course meals, gourmet buffet-style offerings, house-made bakery goodies and a lot more (child pricing available for little appetites). For even more festive fun, stop by the holiday cookie decorating class on Dec. 6, where pastry chef Danielle Grogan will lead the way on fun sugar cookie designs for parents and kids (psst — we hear mimosas for the adults will be available!).

Spectacular water views and fresh-caught seafood are a given at this storied Ballard eatery, but beloved Ray’s Boathouse also dishes out some impressive holiday delights. Guests can choose from the grand holiday buffet on the restaurant’s second floor, showing a spread of Thanksgiving favorites, seafood and oyster bar, and a house-smoked carving station; or a three-course dinner with a fall-themed menu of soup or salad, entree and dessert. Little ones get a children’s menu featuring a traditional turkey plate and picky-eater-friendly sides — and diners younger than 5 eat free! More festive feasting is in the works for the Christmas season; follow the website for updates and details.

If your meat-eater fam would rather carve into a juicy steak than a turkey, Daniel’s Broiler is the place to be this Thanksgiving (not to worry, turkey lovers — the bird is still on the table). This popular steakhouse will be plating up a mouthwatering four-course Thanksgiving array at three of its four locations in Seattle and Bellevue.  You’ll find a choice of entrees like roast turkey, prime rib or salmon, and upgrades to premium steak options. If buffets are more your jam, head to the downtown Seattle venue where you will find all the holiday classics, sides and desserts in a kid-friendly all-you-can-eat format. Child pricing is available based on age, it costs $10 for littles 5 and younger.

Family-owned Vietnamese café Jollidaze is on our list for a very good reason: Its deceptively plain storefront in the International District hides an immersive Christmas experience like no other in the city. A giant drummer bear greets you in the ornament-draped shop before you explore the themed spaces. All holiday decorations are handmade by the owner’s family, from the cozy and nostalgic Santa’s Cabin to Jolliville Winter Wonderland, hidden behind a secret bookshelf passageway that slides open to reveal swirling snow, a life-size candy house and Santa’s gingerbread workshop. Of course, don’t forget about the sweet treats on the menu, from towering ice-cream concoctions to inventive boba drinks and more.

Get ready to say “Feliz Navidad!” when you step into the colorful Christmas world at La Palmera. This family-owned spot dishes out authentic Mexican favorites from chimichangas to birria tacos across locations in South Lake Union, Mill Creek, Edmonds and Everett. In December, its holiday colors truly come out with the flamboyantly festive Christmas Cantina.

While the Cantina bar area is reserved for the 21-and-older crowd, the entire restaurant gets draped in holiday decor, flaunting cascades of multicolored lights, ornaments, themed table covers, and seasonal-only drinks in cute Christmas mugs, including a peppermint hot cocoa just for kiddos (who can also get their own Little Amigos meal). And we hear a breakfast with Santa may once again be in the works this season — stay tuned for details!

Stepping into Ballard’s Ristorante Picolinos in December is like coming to Christmas dinner at your Italian nonna’s house. This family-friendly neighborhood fave serves up cozy, homey vibes alongside hearty Italian cooking — from fresh pastas to wood-fired pizzas and regional specialties. A giant Nutcracker greets visitors at the entrance to the dining room, while soft twinkle lights create a warm glow amid regal Christmas trees, draped garlands, friendly Santas and traditional ornaments, for a classic homestyle holiday feel. Littles get their own kid-friendly pasta and pizza menu. Don’t sleep on a scoop of gelato or a cannoli for a sweet finish!

Much beloved for its fresh seafood, famous buffet brunch and beautiful waterfront views, local landmark Salty’s on Alki Beach definitely rises to the occasion when it comes to seasonal dining. At Thanksgiving, bring the whole fam to indulge at the all-day seafood buffet, featuring plenty of kid faves like mac and cheese or a create-your-own pasta station — plus the finishing pièce de résistance: a 4-foot chocolate fountain with fruit, marshmallows and more for dipping!

Come winter, the restaurant transforms into a cozy waterside wonderland as more holiday feasts are served for Christmas and New Year’s. For wintry magic without the chill, the restaurant patio gets set up with heated tents and twinkle lights overlooking the shimmering Seattle skyline. But the stars of the show are the nutcrackers: towering 7-foot-tall sculptures, painted by local artists, that march into the dining room every year.
