Habitants, Kid Crafts and Gallery Walk Through

Calendar/Event Details

Come celebrate our insects and local ecosystem with critters, coloring, and crafts, as well as a casual gallery walk through and discussion on 'Habitants' by Melinda Hurst Frye.

The sunshine is peeking through the clouds today, Seattleites are wandering around outside, and so are the critters! Who is making a home of the spaces just outside of your home? Who survives the winter and how? Come to Core Gallery next Saturday, view photographs from 'Habitants' illustrating the cycles and habitats just outside of our domestic spaces. (Kid-friendly crafts - adults do not have to be accompanied by a kiddo to make crafts.)

Habitants is a reminder of nature's presence and cycles in our backyards. A combination of scans and photographs, the constructed tableaux present elements of developed landscapes along with its inhabitants. Images of insect eggs and caterpillars will be coupled with crafts and conversation on process and biology.

Great for all kids who like to dig in the soil and are interested in the world around them!
