Adoptee Identity Formation: Nurturing Belonging, Resilience, Sense of Self

Sunday, March 29 @ 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

How does an adopted person come to understand who they are — across family, culture, race, attachment, and life’s turning points?

Join the AFFGS community for an afternoon with Samson Irish-Lodge, local therapist whose work is shaped by his own experience growing up in an adoptive family. Drawing from developmental psychology and lived experience, Samson will explore how identity evolves across childhood and adolescence — and how families can actively support belonging, resilience, and an authentic sense of self.

Together, we’ll consider:

  • How identity forms at the intersection of family systems, culture, race, and attachment
  • The impact of life transitions on self-concept and belonging
  • Practical ways caregivers can nurture healthy identity development over time

Come curious. Leave with deeper insight — and tangible tools to support the adoptees in your life.

Babes-in-arms welcome, free childcare provided.
