Target’s Car Seat Trade-In Event Is Back

Fall is a great time to clear out closets and get rid of things that aren’t getting used. If you happen to have old car seats you no longer need, don’t miss out on Target’s biannual car seat trade-in event. Car seats can be traded in at any Target store Sunday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026.

Instead of sending your expired or damaged car seat to a landfill, bring it into your local Target store and in exchange, receive a 20-percent-off Target Circle Bonus toward a new car seat or baby gear purchase. When you drop off your car seat or base, use your phone to scan the QR code on the box (located near the Guest Services counter), then tap “Add to Target Circle bonus.” Your 20-percent-off coupon will be in your wallet in the Target app until it expires on Oct. 17, or you can redeem it twice (yes, twice!). Target also offers its Baby Concierge service, now available in 200 stores, providing parents with personalized help navigating baby products and gear.

Now in its 10th year, Target’s car seat trade-in program has recycled more than 3.8 million car seats, keeping more than 63.7 million pounds of materials out of landfills. Those recycled materials have been used to create more than 2 million Brightroom and Room Essentials products, along with other products and materials.

Target is also highlighting new baby products and limited-time savings during this fall’s event. Recent additions include Olivia Culpo’s exclusive Picolette line, updated Cloud Island diaper bags, UPPAbaby gear and Target-exclusive organic feeding options. Shoppers can also find rotating discounts on diapers, toiletries, toys, apparel and feeding supplies throughout the event.

Target also recently announced the launch of its reimagined beauty section, Target Beauty Studio, opening in more than 600 stores nationwide. Woodinville and Tacoma Target stores will be some of the first to get the upgrade.
